Music: Texture EP

Our Take

Quite simply put, Texture’s debut EP is some of the best traditional rock music I’ve listened to in awhile. Anyone who can appreciate the genre will want to check it out, and if the band can make music this enjoyable with just an EP, when they get around to releasing a full length it is truly going to be something.

Billy Bryan’s vocals add quite a bit to this release. At times they invoke feelings of U2 and Guns ‘N Roses at certain points, but overall very much stand out as their own unique sound. Bryan knows how to properly use melody and perfectly have his voice fit the music. Listeners are sure to fall in love with his voice, and this adds to Texture’s ability to please the music junkie.

Instrumentals are also very well done. The first song “Wilmington” builds up with a harder rock riff that builds into a very nice melody. I’m definitely reminded of some of the best rock bands of the early and mid 90’s when listening to the instrumental styles on this EP, and that is not a bad thing at all.

Most bands give a brief impression of what is to come with an EP, but Texture far surpasses this. Every song on this release is very listenable and will leave listeners begging for even more material. Adding to that, putting the disc in your computer will grant you access to a making of video as well as a music video to the song “What You Get”. If you like the genre, definitely look into Texture, because they’re going to go places.
