Aniplex of America Acquires New Series il sole penetra le illusioni ~ Day Break Illusion

Aniplex of America has really been on a roll recently, picking up three shows that are going to be airing during the summer anime season. They’ve announced a fourth acquisition with il sole penetra le illusioni ~ Day Break Illusion, a new series by AIC. Check out the trailer for the show below, it appears to be another magical girl series that takes on a darker slant like Madoka Magica. Whether it will have what it takes to stand out remains to be seen, but the series has just started airing and is being simulcast so you’ll be able to check it out soon for yourself.


SANTA MONICA, CA (June 27, 2013) – Following their recent acquisitions of Monogatari Series 2nd Season, Silver Spoon and Servant Service, Aniplex of America Inc. has announced today the
acquisition of the new animation series il sole penetra le illusioni ~ Day Break Illusion. Day Break Illusion will be streaming online starting this summer. This brand new series will be directed by Keizou Kusakawa, whose previous works include popular titles such as Sekirei and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Day Break Illusion will be available for streaming just hours after its initial airing in Japan. In addition to their streaming plans, Aniplex of America is also planning on a home release version of Day Break Illusion on disc. Details about the physical release will be announced at a later date.

A Synopsis on Day Break Illusion: Since ancient times long past, this world has been ruled by two types of tarot cards. The Diablos Tarot—The tarot of the devil that feasts on the souls of living humans and uses that nourishment to bring countless pain and suffering. The Elemental Tarot—The tarot that draws its energy from the power of nature in order to oppose the Diablos Tarot. Girls chosen from 22 different bloodlines become the wielders of the Elemental Tarot, plunging themselves into this secret battle against the Diablos Tarot. These girls maintain the balance of this world, while carrying unbearable guilt… Are they executioners? Or are they saviors? This is the story of the long, long battle fought by girls who cannot escape the fate they bear.
