Microïds has quite a few adventure titles in development, and it has been seeming like they’ve been fairly quiet about a lot of them until recently. The publisher announced they had won the rights to use the Agatha Christie license to develop new adventure games based on the author’s novels way back in August of 2013, and formally announced their first use of the license would be a game adaptation of The A.B.C. Murders that December. Almost a year later, there is finally an update on the game in the form of two screenshots.

As you can see below, it looks like Microïds is going for an animated look and feel, which is very different from the previous Agatha Christie adventure games that have come out over the years.  It does look like the team is trying to pack a decent amount of detail into each scene, but I’m not quite sure I’m fully sold on the art style just yet.  I feel as though I will need to see it in in action to better judge.  The A.B.C. Murders will be out sometime next year, and now that the publisher is starting to show off screens hopefully more information will become available in the near future.  Microïds says it is in development for just about every platform, with releases planned for PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One, iOS, and Android.

This new Microïds title from the adventure game catalogue benefited from a very early graphic research. The team strove to bring “The A.B.C. Murders” a very identifiable visual style. While remaining faithful to the classical representation of Hercule Poirot and the typical investigation places, “The A.B.C. Murders” tries to bring a modern touch never shown before in the video game adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel. Other than the visual aspect, the players will find all the elements that make up the best police investigations.

The story starts with Hercule Poirot receiving typed letters signed by A.B.C. giving the date and location of the next murder. A.B.C. is working his way through the alphabet, leaving an ABC railroad guide with each victim.

“The A.B.C. Murders” adventure game is due to be released in 2015 on PC, Mac,PS4 , Xbox One, iOS and Android in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
