In addition to revealing the details about Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Microsoft announced a brand new Halo live action series and multiplayer beta for Halo 5: Guardians. Both of these will be included in The Master Chief Collection package when it comes out this holiday season.

Nightfall’s an interesting prospect, as it’s a live action digital series with Ridley Scott acting as Executive Producer. Director Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (Battlestar Galactica, Heroes) will use the series to introduce viewers to a character that is said to serve a pivotal role in Guardians. Other than saying that the series will included in The Master Chief Collection, Microsoft hasn’t revealed that many other details just yet. I’m curious as to how many episodes Nightfall will run for and how long each episode will be, but expect we’ll get more details as the holiday season draws closer.

Microsoft also showed a teaser trailer for the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta, which means they showed a CG trailer with a bunch of buzz words. It was mentioned that you can unlock content for the Multiplayer Beta in The Master Chief Collection and Nightfall, all of which will carry over into Guardians when it is released next year. The trailer mentions 60 FPS on dedicated servers though, so that’s definitely something to look forward to.

Details are still a bit scarce on the fall Guardians multiplayer beta and Nightfall, as Microsoft’s focus was understandably on showing off The Master Chief Collection. Expect to hear more about both as we get closer to release.
