A classic RPG takes you back to the past, bringing the story of Luanr: Silver Star Harmony to gamers new and old.

Lunar: Silver Star Harmony brings the classic Sega CD RPG to the Playstation Portable, with new graphics, environments, voices, the whole nine yards.

The story starts off throwing you into the action, and as you continue through the game you really learn quite a bit about each character. You continue to meet more and more characters, and it’ll actually be a couple hours before your journey actually truly begins. The voice acting is pretty good, and the overall flow of the game is decent. Sometimes the game feels REALLY slow, and other times it feels extremely fast so there are definitely issues here and there, but overall it isn’t so bad.

The game does a pretty good job of getting you familiar with the combat system, and gives you a really good taste of what’s to come. Then when the story of the protagonist begins, you already have a nice amount of back story. That only gets more and more reinforced as the story continues, however it should be noted that the game doesn’t take itself uber seriously, so it’s always easy to just sit back, relax, and enjoy it. The anime style cutscenes are numerous and sometimes kind of annoying, especially when you just want to get on with everything and keep grinding a new area. However, you can skip them. This does take away parts of the story, so it isn’t advised.

The load screens are possibly one of the worst things about the game, you get them extremely often and they last long enough that they can become extremely annoying extremely quickly. The only other real complaint is the lack of dual audio. Having the original language as an option would have been amazing, but the dub isn’t so bad. Some of the scenes are REALLY cheesy, but it’s all in good fun and it helps makes the story.

If you have never played Lunar before, then buy this and play it, and enjoy a truly classic RPG. If you have played Lunar before, you might just want to bum it off a friend or rent it. Either way, it’s a blast to play.
