Aotearoa has released their single “Thunderbird” from their album Strange Weather, which is available to purchase now on Bandcamp. The group mixes elements of rock, funk, and other styles together into catchy arrangements. Check out the track below, as well as tour dates that start in October.

AOTEAROA has spent a far greater portion of the past three years living on the road. Traveling the United States as modern American nomads, the band has earned the praises of fans and dance-floor goers alike. By regularly switching off instruments and vocals, Aotearoa (pronounced A-O-TAY-UH-ROW-UH) proves to be a unique combination straight from the start. With their striking blend of rock-meets-funk-meets-dance (aka “Jungle Funk”), the group elevates the intents of groove-rooted music to match the lyrical weight in their songs.

Aotearoa is sharing a track from the album titled “Thunderbird,” for your listening pleasure. The song showcases multi-instrumentalist Jake Lerman’s hypnotically guiding vocals interlaced with seamlessly intricate live guitar and bass loops. Alongside powerful driving rhythms by multi-instrumentalist Ilan Gitter, the duo creates an unforgettable vibe that resonates throughout the album. Aotearoa will be releasing their latest and more ambitious effort this Fall, with an extensive national tour to follow.
