Svart Records continues to find great bands I hadn’t come across yet, and they’ve done this again with Mantar. The German/Turkish band has been around for less than a year and released one limited run 7-inch so far. Svart will release their debut full length Death By Burning on February 7th on CD, LP, tape, and digital formats. Check out the song “White Nights” and an album trailer below. I’m ready to hear more, as “White Nights” is a heavy hitting track that grabbed me right from the start.

February 2014 sees the two-piece German monster MANTAR release their debut album on SVART RECORDS. Recorded earlier in 2013 and titled Death By Burning, the album is a raw, self-produced, and 100% DIY display of power. The half-German/half-Turkish band has existed for less than a year and released one limited run 7″ – probably sold out by the time you read this.

MANTAR manages to sound even heavier than most five-piece bands you may know, in spite of the fact that no bass guitar was used on Death by Burning – just drums and guitar set for destruction. Forget about rock ‘n’ roll: this will hurt. Flogging beats and blackened melodies meet feedback orgies and doom mayhem – early Melvins, Motorhead, Darkthrone, you name it. Don’t call it sludge, though. Everything as black as possible, a soundtrack for the final battle.

SVART RECORDS will unleash the black 10-track attack on February 7th, 2014 on CD, LP, tape, and digital. The first sample track off the album is titled “White Nights,” and can be heard here: Additionally, a teaser video for Death by Burning can be viewed here: Cover and tracklisting for MANTAR’s Death by Burning to be announced shortly.
