Southern Darkness Festival

Scrapyard Magazine is proud to announce the first annual Southern Darkness Festival in Tampa, FL on August 23, 2014. Tampa has always been recognized as one of the cradles of extreme music, and the SDF promoters hope to honor this tradition and carry it forward with a Festival that represents so much of the music that labors in the darkness.

This year, the line-up consists of:

Pelican

ASG

A Storm of Light

Phobia

Weekend Nachos

Bongripper

Magrudergrind

Coke Bust

Black Tusk

Primate

Centuries

Fall of Rauros

Lord Mantis

Scrog– Reunion Show!

Mouth of the Architect

Yautja

Maruta

Everything Went Black

Order of the Owl

Immortal Bird

Strong Intention

Jungbluth

Sannhet

Set and Setting

Cosm

Traitor Crucifix

Vaporizer

This one day festival will take place at multiple venues (The Orpheum, Crowbar, Ybor Live) in historic Ybor City. The festival is centered around two guiding principles: that people should be stoked on all of the bands playing, keeping a kind of coherent “narrative,” and that ticket prices should be kept low. Advance tickets are $35 and day of show prices $40. Although some of the bands fall within different genres, we believe there is a common commitment that will appeal to anyone interested in extreme forms of music.
