The Pod has signed a deal with The Path Less Travelled Records, which will release the project’s new album Faded Memory From a Dying Sun on September 30th. Check out the entire release below via Bandcamp. I really like the overall sound The Pod channels, as it’s a mix of industrial and ambient with plenty of other influences added in.

“The Pod’s heavier bits are never purposely overbearing and the quieter bits mesmerize like a long stare into the stillness of a slowly revolving gas nebula, one light year in diameter.” Terrorizer

Scott Endres aka The Pod is pleased to announce details of his forthcoming new album and freshly inked deal with The Path Less Travelled Records.

‘Faded Memory From A Dying Sun’, the band’s third full-length and follow-up to the critically acclaimed ‘Assassins In The Mirrored Hall’, hits the streets on Sept 30.

The album sees Endres (who also plays guitar and vocals in North Carolina’s MAKE) paying homage to one of his biggest influences (with a cover of Spacemen 3’s ‘2:35′) and exploring new musical territories. A departure in sound from previous Pod releases, ‘Faded Memory…’ takes on an almost industrial vibe in places.

“Yeah, I’m not sure what happened!” laughs Endres. “About half-way through writing and recording it I realized I was kind of putting together a “pop” record, at least comparatively, in terms of The Pod’s usual structure. “Nightmare pop” was what came to mind. Once I realized that, I just sort of channeled my desire to go a little industrial. Ogre’s vocals on ‘Gub’ by Pigface was a sort of touchstone of inspiration.”

Formed in 2008, The Path Less Travelled Records has released albums by the likes of Flourishing, Imbroglio, Empty Flowers, Body Stuff and more.

On his partnership with The Pod, owner Sean Crook said: “I contacted MAKE a while back about partnering with them in some fashion. I think I read about them in Decibel’s “Throw Me a Frickin’ Bone” section. Fast forward a year or two later and I received an e-mail from Scott saying he had some solo work he wanted me to hear. He sent me a couple of demo tracks and I was blown away.”

The album is available for pre-order now from band’s website and early purchasers will receive an exclusive EP entitled ‘The Desert’ too.
