Fun. at Merriweather Post Pavilion

While I enjoyed Tegan and Sara a lot, their lighting was so bad that it didn’t seem worth it to even post photos from them.

Fun.

I completely forgot about the Fun show until about a week before it. Thankfully I was lucky enough to still get approved. While I wasn’t too familiar with Fun aside from their two awesome singles “We Are Young” and “Some Nights”, but this show really opened my eyes to just how awesome their debut album and follow up really are. Songs like “Carry On” and “Walking the Dog” really showed off how talented the guys are.

Much like the Barenaked Ladies show, I couldn’t believe how packed Merriweather Post Pavilion was for this show. I wasn’t sure how this show would sell but as soon as I walked in and saw just how packed the pavilion and lawn were, I got my answer. Even when it started raining right before their set – their fans didn’t let that deter them from having a blast.

There wasn’t too much in the way of theatrics, but they weren’t really needed for this show. Main vocalist Nate Reuss was phenomenal and spent the duration of the set running from side to side to pump up the crowd. His chemistry with bandmates Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff was nothing but love and it made them even more lovable to the crowd who just ate it up.

This was one also one of the best shows I’ve been to in years. I can’t wait to see how much these guys evolve over the coming years. They’re going to get even bigger.
