Judas Priest at IZOD Center

On November 18th iconic metal legends Judas Priest brought their world Epitaph tour to the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey with support from Thin Lizzy and Black Label Society. This night was bittersweet due to the fact that this was Judas Priest’s final world tour. They’re not completely retiring, as they plan to continue to write and record music, but this would be their final world tour.

Powering through a nearly two and a half hour set (rare for bands in their youth, let alone for guys who have been playing for forty years) Judas Priest have not lost any of their edge from when I saw them co-headline England’s Download Festival two years ago with Kiss. They played at least one song from every year and played some that they haven’t played in a long time.

Halford and co. have a knack for not leaving anything on the stage both in their energy and stage presence. While on stage Halford was substantially less energetic compared to bassist Ian Hill, guitarist Glenn Tipton, drummer Scott Travis and new guitarist Richie Faulkner. Faulker recently took over touring duties for foundpriestg guitarist K.K. Downing. Still, with lots of smoke effects, pyro and an interesting light show the bad boys of British metal rocked IZOD better than any band in recent memory. Playing through two encores, the band did not leave anyone unsatisfied.

Sadly one part of the Judas Priest legacy is over, but another is just beginning and I for one could not be more excited.
