After nearly 20 years since the original, Lloyd and Harry have reunited for the sequel Dumb and Dumber To. Despite negative reviews and poor word-of-mouth, the sequel was able to finish at the top spot, bringing in an estimated $38.1 million. This is the most financially successful weekend at the box office for the Farrelly Brothers, and Jim Carrey’s biggest opening since 2003’s Bruce Almighty.
Disney’s Big Hero 6 brought in another $36 million, bringing its total to around $111.7 million. Last weeks box office runner-up Interstellar fell to number 3, adding $29.2 million. The Christopher Nolan epic has earned $97.8 million so far, and may drop further in the rankings when The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1 opens this weekend.
