I’ve been waiting a looooong time for this one. Papa Roach is my favorite band, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of “F.E.A.R (Face Everything And Rise)” ever since it was announced. They do have some big expectations after the release of “The Connection” in 2012, which in my opinion was a smash hit. The question is, does it measure up to the hype?

Track 1. Face Everything And Rise – If you’re wondering a good way to start off an album, why don’t you ask Papa Roach? The title track really sets the tone and seamlessly gets the album started. They definitely don’t sound rusty at all and this song easily fits in to their live set list. SCORE – 8/10

Track 2. Skeletons – This song has a sweet opening riff, and a decent chorus, but that’s all I really take from it. It’s not really my favorite on the album at all, but it’s definitely an alright song and I could see myself liking it the more I listen. SCORE – 6/10

Track 3. Broken As Me – This song is so, so good. It was the second single from the album, and hearing it made me extremely excited for the rest of the album. I love pretty much everything about this track. I love the chorus, I love the heavy guitar part, I love the drumming, you name it. This song is a home run for me. SCORE – 10/10

Track 4. Falling Apart – Another really good song here. Lead singer Jacoby Shaddix sounds great on this one, and the chorus is extremely catchy and memorable. In fact, I can see myself humming this song for the next few weeks. Thanks, Papa Roach. SCORE – 8/10

Track 5. Love Me Till It Hurts – This one is definitely not one of my favorites from the album. Nothing stands out too much, but it’s a pretty good filler track without doubt. Just like “Skeletons”, I could see me liking it more in the future. SCORE – 7/10

Track 6. Never Have To Say Goodbye – If you’re in to Papa Roach’s “Scars”, “Before I Die” and “Forever”, this is the song on the album you are going to want to divert your attention to. This is a song with a powerful message, strong vocals, and it’s really well done all around. SCORE – 9/10

Track 7. Gravity – There’s a lot to like about this song. I like the rap parts, I like Jacoby Shaddix’s vocals, I like the instrumentals. Now, I may be the minority here, but I’m really not feeling Maria Brink in this song. I don’t like her vocals at all in it. For me, it brings this song down a couple of notches. SCORE – 7/10

Track 8. War Over Me – This one is in my top 3 for the whole album. I love the lyrics, the instrumentals are great, and once again, Jacoby Shaddix was on point. I’ll be listening to this one for a long time. SCORE – 9/10

Track 9. Devil – For me, this track takes first place. I really, really like this song. I don’t want to sound like a broken record here, but once again, great lyrics, great vocals, great instrumentals. Like “Broken As Me”, this one is a home run. Actually, make that a grand slam. SCORE – 10/10

Track 10. Warriors – This is the first song everyone heard from the album. It wasn’t intentionally released as a single, but it ended up being that way. It’s a pretty decent track, the rap part is alright, Jacoby’s vocals were alright. It’s not terrible, but nothing to write home about either. SCORE – 6/10

Track 11. Hope For The Hopeless – This is another really, really solid song. It’s by no means a smash hit, but it fits in well and I like the message. It may not be particularly memorable, but it’s a good song nonetheless. SCORE – 7/10

Track 12. Fear Hate Love – Papa Roach ends it’s 2015 release with a bang. I love the guitar in this song, and Shaddix’s vocals go perfectly with it. It’s fast-paced and pretty uplifting. SCORE – 8/10

In conclusion, Papa Roach nailed it with this one. To me, it kind of feels like it was meant to be a sequel to 2012’s “The Connection”, and I’m totally fine with that. “The Connection” was written during trying times in Jacoby Shaddix’s life, and this album has a much more “you’ll make it through everything” kind of vibe, and I really like that.

Well done, Papa Roach.

TOTAL SCORE – 95/120 = 79%
