Criterion Games: Going Beyond Cars

EA had been teasing a new Criterion IP at E3, and did make a small announcement at their press conference. Unfortunately it wasn’t what I was hoping, as it basically teased a currently untitled project from the developer that promises to go beyond car racing and include vehicles like ATV, boats, and even wingsuits. It sounds like they’re shooting for an open world type setup where you can get in and out of vehicles as you choose, but the only footage shown so far is extremely early prototype footage.

On the one hand, I’m excited for the potential of a project like this and know that Criterion has the experience to make it work. But I’m not sure I like projects being shown this early on, as all it tells me is that I’ll likely be seeing this again at E3 again in 2015 rather than being able to play a final product.

Criterion is encouraging gamers to chime in with their thoughts at twitter.com/CriterionGames and use the hash tag #beyondcars.
