Griffin House’s album, Flying Upside Down, was released in 2007 and has been the latest album the singer/songwriter has recorded since. This album is cogent enough to keep this musician’s name around the musical water cooler, but it also makes me wonder, where has Griffin gone?

Griffin’s lyrics, voice, and music swirl together to make a romantic and heartfelt album. “Better Than Love” is what wedding songs are made of, and somehow still, these songs aren’t too sappy which makes me breathe a little sigh of relief.

Flying Upside Down is a little on the generic side, nothing from it really hit me as being out of the ordinary in terms of sound, but it is a nice mixture of soft rock, folk and country. I’m a sucker for a slide guitar’s twang, so I am a little disappointed there wasn’t more of an emphasis on one throughout this album. But, I’ll forgive Griffin this time since he is a solid guitar player in his own right.
